Collections Officer

We are seeking a dedicated and professional representative to manage the effective and timely performance of collections functions for Maui County FCU. The ideal candidate will handle delinquent accounts, follow up with members, and provide solutions for repayment while maintaining positive relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow up on delinquent accounts through phone, email, and correspondence, working to resolve repayment issues and suggesting financial counseling or alternative arrangements.

  • Utilize various collection tools and human relations skills to effectively manage members' delinquencies and minimize losses.

  • Administer collections activities in line with Credit Union policies, ensuring legal compliance and maintaining up-to-date documentation.

  • Maintain professional business relations with members, ensuring confidentiality and a positive Credit Union image.

  • Coordinate effectively with internal teams and management to ensure goals are met and provide updates on collection efforts.

  • Handle skip tracing, repossession, foreclosure recommendations, and legal actions such as small claims complaints or garnishments as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to manage difficult situations and irate members effectively.

  • Knowledge of collections processes, financial counseling, and legal requirements related to debt recovery.

  • Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate effectively within a team.

  • Experience in collections, customer service, or a related field is preferred.
