2026 Board Director Nominations

The Nominating Committee of the Board consisting of Rhonda Loo, Richelle Lu, and Glenn Okimoto submits the following nominees for the 2026 Annual Meeting election (four to be elected): Christian Apo Takayama, Moana Lutey, Edwin Okubo, and Kirsten Szabo.

» Christian Apo Takayama is a sales and client relations leader with experience in the automotive, education, and communications sectors. He is currently a Sales Manager and Lead Client Advisor at BMW of Maui, earning national recognition for performance and customer service. His background also includes teaching STEAM subjects at Kamehameha Schools Maui and managing client accounts at a New York PR firm. He received a BA in East Asian Languages and Cultures from Columbia University and has completed the Ka Ipu Kukui leadership fellowship.

» Moana Lutey has been a member of the Maui County Federal Credit Union since 1994. After graduating from the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii, Moana worked as a deputy prosecuting attorney for the County of Maui before transferring to the Department of the Corporation Counsel. She was recently appointed by the Maui County Council as the County Clerk for the County of Maui, assisting with the functions of the legislative branch and overseeing local and national elections within the County. She has served as a Board Director since 2023. Prior to that she was a member of the Supervisory Committee.

» Edwin Okubo has been a member of Maui County Federal Credit Union since 1971 and has served on the Board of Directors for 29 years, including 10 as Chair and eight as Vice Chair. A Lahainaluna High School and University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa graduate, he is a U.S. Army veteran and retired from the County of Maui after serving as its Federal Programs Coordinator, Federal Programs & Housing Coordinator and Housing Administrator with nearly 38 years of service. He has also served on the Hale Mahaolu Board and the Hawai‘i Community Reinvestment Corporation. Edwin is dedicated to helping guide the credit union’s growth, financial strength, and commitment to exceptional member service.

» Kirsten Szabo is presently a Legislative Analyst in the Office of Council Services. She is a seasoned healthcare finance leader with nearly 30 years in accounting and finance operations in California, Hawaii and Idaho. Most recently, she served as CFO for Terry Reilly Health Services. Previously served as the Vice President at Ohana Pacific Management, and has held CFO roles at Hale Makua Health Services, the Community Clinic of Maui, and Maui Memorial Medical Center. She holds a master’s in healthcare administration from the University of Colorado, a bachelor’s degree in science in accounting from Loyola Marymount University and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in California.

Interested members may submit nominations by petition signed by at least 1% of the membership. The election will not be conducted by ballot, and there will be no nominations from the floor if the number of nominees equals the number of positions to be filled. Petition forms are available at any branch. The election will be conducted by a vote of members at the 2026 Annual Meeting. The deadline to submit nominations is January 24, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. HST.
