Community Service

Working together, we know we can make a difference. Maui County FCU team members love to take on projects that lift up our members and our Maui County community.

Why get involved? Because we live here, too.

Yes, our focus is on providing exceptional financial services. But it's part of our credit union culture to find other ways to help our friends and neighbors. Here are some of our recent initiatives:

Caring for Our 'Aina

On Juneteenth our awesome crew of employees spent the afternoon giving back to our community by cleaning up the area around Kahului Boat Harbor. Mahalo to Malama Maui Nui for providing us with safety vest, opala pickers, gloves and trash bags.

Arc of Maui County

Through our Community Giving Program we were able to raise over three thousand dollars for the Arc of Maui County. Funds raised will help promote and protect the human rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Maui county.

Feed My Sheep

Happy to help Feed My Sheep with their mobile food distribution to prevent food insecurity on Maui. We distributed fresh produce, meat and non-perishable items to Kahului and Lahaina residents in need. They continue to need volunteers to help with distributions weekly.

Friends of the Children's Justice Center

Through our Community Giving Program, employees selected and raised funds throughout May 2022 for the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center of Maui.  Raising $7,149.02 to help prevent children from abuse and neglect throughout Maui County.

Hale Mahaolu

The Credit Unions of Maui hosted their annual Charity Golf Tournament. The sold-out event raised $45,000 to benefit local nonprofit Hale Mahaolu, known for providing housing, meals, and personal care for Maui kūpuna and disabled individuals, as well as affordable housing for individuals and families.

Imua Family Services

Our entire team came together to help Imua Family Services make improvements to its Imua Discovery Garden. Employees spent the morning clearing debris, gardening, painting and cleaning in support of children with developmental and learning disabilities.

Ka Lima O Maui

We support Ka Lima O Maui by donating newspaper for the organization's Medicaid waiver program participants to shred. These disabled individuals are empowered by earning a paycheck for shredding the paper, which is then sold to to local flower growers. The nonprofit uses the funds to help continue their work.

The Maui Farm

Our Board Director, employees and their families lend a hand at The Maui Farm painting the chicken coop, cleaning the hog homes, propagating plants and more to help the organization to fulfill its mission to provide farm-based, family-centered programs that teach essential life skills for self-sufficient living.

Maui Food Bank

Maui Food Bank

We helped feed Maui's hungry by volunteering at the Maui Food Bank and preparing over 2,000 bags of food and over 2,000 boxes of food for distribution to seniors and for the holidays on Maui, Molokai and Lanai. In 2020, we provided nearly 200 volunteer hours at the Maui Food Bank.

Maui Health Foundation

Maui Health Foundation

We're supporting Maui women in need of life-saving mammograms and biopsies by raising funds for the Maui Health Foundation's Kokua for a Cause campaign. Breast cancer is the most common cancer affecting Maui women. Thanks to the support of our employees and members, we raised $13,000+ over the past two years.

The Salvation Army

For four consecutive years, we've helped Maui County keiki go back to school with the tools they need to succeed by supporting The Salvation Army's Adopt a Backpack drive for school supply donations. In addition, we also participate in the Angel Tree program during the holidays to provide keiki and kūpuna in need with Christmas gifts.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program

Since 2018, we've participated in the IRS's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) and Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) programs, providing free basic tax return preparation to over 250 qualified individuals. The VITA program offers free tax help to: People who generally make $56,000 or less; Persons with disabilities; and Limited English- speaking taxpayers who need assistance in preparing their own tax returns.
